SMPBS#27: You Move Me

“You Moved Me” was written from a place where my faith was not shaken, but my understanding was. I knew what I believed. I knew where I stood with God. I was standing on His Word and His promises, yet nothing around me was aligning with what I expected to see. Instead of moving out of confusion, I stayed. Not because it made sense, but because I had already decided who I serve. This song is about that moment when everything feels still, questions are louder than answers, and yet God chooses to move you in the middle of it.

REFLECTION

There are seasons where nothing changes on the outside

No open doors
No clear direction
No visible progress

And yet something feels different

Not broken
Not falling apart
Just… shifted

“Didn’t break
Didn’t fall
Nothing shattered at all”

It is a strange place to be

Everything is intact
but something inside no longer feels the same

You keep going
because that is what you know to do

“Kept moving like I should
Did everything that I could”

But eventually you realize
effort is not producing movement

And that is where the tension settles in

Not because you have walked away from God
but because you have stayed

“I’m not lost
But I’m not found”

You are not confused about who He is
you just do not understand what He is doing

So you stand

Quietly
steadily

“Still standing on quiet ground”

And somewhere in that stillness
you begin to notice something

Not around you

Within you

“You move me
When nothing else moves”

It is not loud
It is not obvious

But it is real

A shift in how you respond
A steadiness that was not there before
A willingness to stay when you would have left

The questions do not disappear

“Why am I here in this space
Where nothing seems to change”

But they no longer carry the same weight

Because something deeper has settled

“This is surrender
In Your hands”

Not giving up
Not checking out

Just trusting

Even when it does not feel like peace

“Doesn’t feel like peace at all
But I still hear You when I fall”

And that is when you begin to understand

This is not failure
This is not loss

This is something being formed

Quietly
intentionally

“This is the fire that shapes the cost”

You thought you were stuck

But you were being held

“Thought I was frozen
But I was held”

You thought it was silence

But God was still present

Working
refining
steady

“You move me
Not out of this moment
But out of myself”

And maybe that is the movement you needed

Not a change in your situation

But a change in you

MINI REFLECTION

You may still be in the same place

But if something inside you has shifted

Then God is moving

CORE SCRIPTURE

JAMES 1:3–4

“the testing of faith produces perseverance, and encourages letting perseverance finish its work so believers may be mature, complete, and lacking nothing.”

DIRECTOR’S INSIGHT

The artwork reflects that same quiet movement

Forward motion without force
Surrender without resistance

The subject is not controlling the direction
she is open

The water is calm
not chaotic

The light is present
but not fully revealed

Because this kind of movement
does not come with urgency

It comes with trust

FINAL THOUGHT

You may be in a place where nothing makes sense

But if you have already decided who you trust

Then stay

Because God may not move the situation

But He will move you

And that changes everything
